Respect nature! “What do you drink?” festival

18 November, Budapest – a day with 100 authentic wines

Tell me what you eat and I will tell you what you are – said Brillat-Savarin French lawyer and epicure in 1826. Since then it has been proved several times that food influences our health to a great extent, thus we should take care of consuming as less chemicals as possible. Mitiszol? (“me-tea-sol”, meaning “what do you drink?”) is the country’s first drink festival themed around beverages made with the same philosophy: respecting nature (in many cases organic or even biodynamic farming), no additives, as little intervention and manipulation as possible during the making. The festival will showcase a colourful selection of wines from the Carpathian Basin and leading European wine regions (more than 100 samples), as well as some beer, cider, pálinka, fruit juice, syrups, herbal teas, coffee and natural fresh water. Beyond beverages, visitors will have the chance to taste organic food products and dishes. Do not miss Kasnyik Winery from Slovakia and their great Rhine Riesling wines, some with botrytis (Hungarian part), Oszkár Mauer and his old vine Kadarka wines from Serbia (Hungarian part) and Szászi Winery with his organic wines from Badacsony wine region, Hungary.

„The Terroir is around us”

You immediately understand the slogan of Szászi Winery when visiting our renewed estate on Szent György mountain. The birthplace of Szászi wines is surrounded by 20 hectares of organically farmed vineyard. Tasting wine right at the edge of the vineyard is a fascinating, not everyday experience. The tasting terrace with the background scenery of the untouched grape hill, the stunning view of Lake Balaton and Balaton-upland region is an attractive, unforgettable spot which is more then worth visiting. The wine shop is open all year, while the ’Viridárium’ is open in the season and offers local gastronomy. Throughout the year it welcomes family, company or friendly gatherings. Szászi wines have distinctive, charming labels, which were all designed and drew by the wife of the winemaker, Endre Szászi.
Do not miss Szászi wines made of indigenous grapes like Rózsakő, Kéknyelű or Zeusz.

Walk-around tasting and other programs

Although the traditional walk-around tasting is still focusing on authentic wine (about 40 wine growers and over 100 wines), visitors can taste other natural beverages and enjoy organic food products and dishes. Have lunch and dinner at the venue! (Ticket includes tasting all beverages, while food will be available for cash). This year the organizers offer some unique and exciting programs while being on the Festival. One of them is 42 Coffee’s Barista League Final, where the most talented professional baristas will compete for the valuable main prize. Házikó, another exhibitor who prepares delicious food from authentic sources, will also come up with a secret debut project in the Festival.
