Silver bubbles made of Furmint & Hárslevelű

The 17th Effervescents du Monde international sparkling wine competition took place in Dijon, France in November with 564 wines from 22 countries. Hungary received 3 medals, 1 gold and 2 silver. The gold went to Hungária Extry Dry Rosé by Törley, and this wine was also selected among the 10 best sparkling wines of the contest. The same winery, Törley won a silver as well with Fortuna Doux. The 3rd medal winner is Dereszla Winery from Tokaj with it Dereszla Vintage 2015, a blend of Furmint and Hárslevelű. As Edit Bai, winemaker of Dereszla commented, the winery started to make sparkling wine in 2009, and a visit to Champagne was more than helpful. For their méthod traditionelle sparkling wine they favour the vineyards of cooler microclimate with fruit which is able to give complex wine even when picked prior to its full ripeness. Therefore experimenting with the plots of vineyards promises to be and endless, yet exciting game. The silver winner Vintage 2015 was fermented on the lees for 18 months. Refreshing, attractive nose with spring flowers and citrus fruits. Vibrant acidity, creamy palate, and good length. It is still available at reasonableprice (retail: 3900 HUF / 11.8 euros) from Dereszla webshop.
