St Martin wine dinner with the best Irsai Olivér!

Frittmann Winery has already released some of its new wines, but on 14 November guests will have a chance to taste more 2020 wines. The wine dinner will be a chance to taste the best Irsai Olivér in Hungary and to meet János Frittmann, who has just received the Knight of Cross from the Order of Merit of the Hungarian Republic from president János Áder.

The best Irsai Olivér

Kunság wine region is suitable to make wonderful aromatic wines. The best examples are not clumsy at all, but juicy and elegant at the same time, the flamboyant aromas are in balance with body and acidity. The Frittmann family knows how to handle the aromatic grapes to avoid excessively perfumed nose. Their endeavour is justified by a recent acknowledgement: in this year’s issue of Top 100 Hungarian wines (Világgazdaság Publishing House) Frittmann Irsai Olivér 2019 is listed (position No 79), and since there is no other Irsai prior, the Frittmann wine is the best example of the variety. The intensive fragrance of this straw yellow coloured wine delivers hints of different flowers, citrus, green apple and peach. On the palate, the easy-going but dynamic acids accompanied by light body and low alcohol content make the pleasant first flavour impression. Aromas follow the notes of the bouquet, its aftertaste is characterised by herbal and lime associations. Nevertheless it is a fragrant wine, it is still a wonderful drink to quench thirst. Serve chilled at 9–10°C with spicy meals or poulty roast, fruit desserts.

A hearty dinner with the geese

St Martin wine dinner at the Frittmanns promises to be an unforgettable, hearty feast. Dinner includes dishes like goose paté on vegetable bed and stone oven baked goose leg with cabbage cooked in red wine. The dinner is accompanied with live music and unlimited (!) new wine consumption! Certainly the new vintage of the above mentioned Irsai Olivér will be presented along with Olívia (the new blend of the estate), Generosa, Néró Rosé and Kékfrankos Rosé. As for the new wines, János Frittmann is satisfied with vintage 2020. Due to drought and hail the quantity is less than usual, but the quality is outstanding, “Fantastic” – as he said.
Tickets are available in limited quantity.
