Two Hungarian medals at Japan Wine Challenge
A Cabernet Franc and a Tokaji Aszú
Japan Wine Challenge is Asia’s oldest wine contest, it has been organized for the 20th time. A total of over 1,700
wines were entered and judged by a panel of leading wine professionals from Japan and international. These came from 30 different countries, with the principle entries being from Australia, Austria, Chile, France, Germany, Italy, New Zealand, and Japan. A total of 11 International Trophy medals were awarded, 39 Regional Trophy medals, 5 No.1 Best Value Trophy medals, 17 Best Value medals, 20 Platinum medals, 121 Gold medals, 429 Silver medals and 798 Bronze medals.
A Cabernet Franc and a Tokaji Aszú
There were no Hungarian gold or bronze winners, only two silver medals, one dry red wine from Villány and a sweet Tokaji Aszú:

This vintage Cabernet Franc of Csány Winery has achieved numerous national and international awards, it is hard to list now – and its retail price is only 9 euros!

Her Majesty herself will handle the trophies!
Trophy winners are chosen from gold medal winners, so we hope that next year there will be some Hungarian gold medals as well – especially because the trophies will be given by the Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado. The entry fee is 250 euros / sample, and the samples must be sent in the summer, though the exact dates for the 2018 contest are not announced yet.
