Great “bullfight” in the trendiest part of Eger

Eger wine region is the most famous for its red blend called Bikavér (Bulls’ Blood). The blend is strictly controlled and it has a precise regulation in order to keep Eger Bikavér in a certain direction.
(Bikavér can be produced in one other Hungarian wine region, Szekszárd, which also has its own regulation.) Eger has an annual Bikavér festival in July, and this autumn a new event will be launched in a trendy district of Eger called Kőporos (‘Stone dusty’). The 1st Kőporos Bikaviadal (Bullfight) will take place on 15 September from 4 pm until midnight with 8 exhibiting wineries. Eger is only a 90 minute drive from Budapest or you can take an InterCity train, and direct buses also run from the capital to Eger. Gróf Buttler is one of the participating wineries, their Egri Bikavér Nagy-Eged is worth itself to take part in the festival: “Deep ruby colour. Gorgeous aroma of intense fruits, red and black berries, elegant minerality of the terroir and manifold spices that make this wine unforgettable! The palate is complex, concentrated, with breezy acids and ripe tannins. Extremely long, rich, fruity finish. Great material at its best! Growing wine with an extraordinary potential!”

Tickets are available on the venue (Eger, Nagykőporos street).
