Tasting of 200 Olaszrizling in October

The largest display of the most widely planted white grape of Hungary will take place on 13 October in Budapest. More than 80 wineries will pour around 200 wines in the glamorous event section of Corinthia Hotel Budapest. Olaszrizling (also called Welschriesling or Grasevina) is an extremely versatile wine: it can be consumed fresh as an every day wine, but the variety is also suitable for oak ageing or ’sur lee’ wines. Folly Arboretum and Winery usually participates in the event. Cédrus 2016 is typical example of complex face of the variety: „The nose is dominated with the citrus character of Olaszrizling. On the palate it has a lovely, creamy texture with honey aromas and stone fruit notes. The aim was to retain the fruity flavors, not to let the barrel notes overwhelm the wine.”
