A supermodel, who loves Furmint

Jodie Kidd’s pub in South England offering Sauska wines

Jodie Kidd British model owns a village pub in England. Of course The Half Moon is not a simple pub: the blonde model takes the job seriously, thus she offers gourmet food made of quality ingredients, and an amazing wine list inspired by her travels. „We are a country pub, restaurant and kitchen garden where the local guests are the heartbeat of the pub. Honest, organic and home from home are just some of the values we hold close and wish to share with all of our guests. You can expect flavour and quality to be at the centre of everything we create or do – where British produce is enhanced by global flavours, the seasons are our inspiration and our menus change to reflect our kitchen garden and the ever-changing Sussex Downs. From local real ales and craft lagers to fine Sussex Wines, our beverage list is equally important to us and we work hard to ensure it is diverse and constantly evolving.”

Furmint and Tokaji Aszú

Jodie is much more than a pretty blonde: after her modelling career she was and is good ar car racing as well, she drives a Maserati with great success. She appears on television in several programs, and she is also known – teamed with her father – as the producer of the musical Yarico. Her latest quest is a pub, which was about to be closed when Jodie saved the institution. The wine list is more than impressive: besides the interesting – and in some cases terrific – English wines you can find the international stars, and you can spot some amazing pieces from less known wine countries, like Turkey or Hungary. From Hungary a dry Furmint and a Tokaji Aszú dessert wine are offered, both from Sauska winery, Tokaj. Congratulation, Jodie! The following is copied from The Half Moon wine list:

DRY FURMINT, SAUSKA 2015 Tokaj – Hungary

A captivating expression of Hungary’s most famous white grape variety, this Furmint o ers intense aromas of peach, blood orange and herbs. The palate is dry, with a satisfying fullness in the middle, leading to a crisp grapefruity nish.

TOKAJI, SAUSKA 2003 Tokaj, Hungary

An exceptional Tokaji, opulently avoured yet still so fresh and youthful, with aromas of g, honey, dried peach, marmalade and caramel. Intense sweetness is balanced by brilliant citrussy acidity; the wine nishes tangy and whistle-clean.
