Vesztergombi and Pannon Tokaj are the most successful wineries

Once upon a time there was a passionate wine connoisseur, who happened to be a famous doctor with a position at Semmelweis Medical University. Dr. Gábor Veres left us far too early, but his legacy – among others this wine selection – is still with us.

This year 53 wineries entered 201 wines. The jury consisted of wine professionals, but doctors with advanced wine knowledge also participated in the evaluation. Semmelweis is an international university with more than 200 partner institutions – the selected wines will be used at events and meetings. Since in the category of “red wine made of international grape” there were several outstanding wines, the jury selected two winners, thus altogether 6 wines received the prestigious title “Wine of Semmelweis University”.
