Gabriella: a charming summer wine
Wine of the Weekend
A recent panel tasting of VinCE Magazine revealed the best, aromatic summer wines – and Borbély Gabriella 2020 made of Muscat Ottonel is one of the top scored wines. The grapes for the wine came from the southern slopes of Csobánc mountain, one of the volcanic mountains of Badacsony wine region.
“Pale lemon colour, medium intense nose typical of the variety. Lilac, lily of the valley and genuine Muscat notes. Some almond, sage and lavander in the background. Ripened white fruits on the palate, good acidity, round sip. A lovely, refreshing wine, a beautiful representative of the variety.” (Zsófia Krasznai dipWSET, VinCE Magazine)
A recent news: Borbély Family Winery has been selected finalist for the Most Beautiful Wine Estate of Hungary.
Celebrate the name
In Hungary we celebrate the so called name days just like birthdays. Originally the names represented some guardian saints of Christian tradition, and though nowadays this religious aspect is rather faded, name days are still celebrated. Isn’t it a lovely idea to celebrate your Gabriella or Gaby friends with this wine? And after some search, you can find wines named, Katie, Peter, Fanny or George as well. The above mentioned wine is named after the lady of the estate, the wife of the founder, the mother of Tamás Borbély, Winemaker of the Year 2020.
