Still February, still Furmint – Furmint tasting in Mád, Tokaj

Type of event: Furmint tasting with 14 wineries both for professionals and consumers
The event lets the participants indulge fully in Furmint: first three lectures will be given (in Hungarian only), then from 17.30 to 22.00 Furmint wines of 14 local wineries can be tasted. Mád is the pearl of Tokaj wine region with great producers and – thank to the soil and the ambition of the winemakers – with rich, mineral, unique wines.
The event takes place in a brand new visitor centre called Aszúház (’House of Aszú’), and the local gourmet restaurant, Gusteau (Restaurant of the Year by Gault & Millau) and its chef, Gábor Horváth will create a three course street food menu for the Furmint wines of the tasting. Though the lectures are in Hungarian, the whole event is memorable and most interesting even if you do not speak Hungarian. Most of the winemakers speak English, and the wines are well worth the 2,5 hours drive from Budapest.
