The 4 course wine dinner on the 11th November will be an unforgettable culinary experience with plates like goose consommé, ravioli stuffed with oyster mushroom, paired with the 2022 vintage of Incognito, a “blanc de noir” wine made of Kékfrankos. The new vintage Supernova rosé (Menoir and Zweigelt) will also be featured! Hurry, there might be a room available as well.

Kékfrankos Rosé 2022 – the first new vintage wine from Tóth Ferenc Winery
Saint Martin’s weekend is the time when the first new vintage wines are released. The family winery from Eger wine region has just started the sale of there Kékfrankos Rosé 2022 from Cigléd and Nagy-Galagonyás vineyards. “The grapes were processed quickly, pressed immediately after berry picking, where the color broth was separated. The settled, purified must was inoculated and fermented in a controlled manner for two weeks. The fermented wine was removed from the coarse broom and the wine was bottled in early November after clarification and filtration.”

Babarczi Winery and Vineyard – open cellar in Pannonhalma
The small yet exciting Pannonhalma wine region is not easy to discover: on foot it is impossible due to longer distances, while by car drivers risk their driving licence since in Hungary zero tolerance applies. However, on 11–13 November, Pannonhalma cellars await visitors and on Saturday even a bus is provided to take guests from one place to another. Babarczi Family Winery welcomes visitors on Saturday all day with a conducted tasting of 5 wines, duck rilette and fresh home made bread.
Buses leave from Hotel Famulus at 10.00, 12.00, 14.00, 16.00, 18.00.

Tornai goose weekend on Somló mountain
Tornai Winery has an in site restaurant with great cuisine relying on seasonal and local ingredients. To honour St Martin, the humbre bishop they created goose plates, which are available on all the three days of the weekent (11, 12, 13 November). Taste dishes like rosé goose breast with sour cherry salsa and noodles. With every goose meal a glass of new vintage Irsai Olivér is provided free of charge! The photo features chef Norbert Fekete and his autumn courses.

Frittmann Winery – strudel filled with rosé braised cabbage
Taste Frittmann Kadarka and all the new vintage wines of Frittmann Winery on 12 November at their St Martin Day dinner. The winery is situated in Soltvartkert, a small town about 90 minutes’ drive from Budapest. The estate has a comfortable guest house accommodating 12 people. St Martin Day dinner will feature traditional courses made of goose and certainly each plate will have its own wine pairing. One of the dishes will be goose leg roasted in stove oven with stuffed goose neck and strudel stuffed with cabbage steamed in new vintage rose wine and sweet potatioes. How does this sound?

Gere Tamás & Zsolt Winery – goose & booze all November
‘Diófa’ (‘Walnut tree’) guest house offers goose plates not only on St Martin’s weekend, but during the whole month of November, on Fridays and Saturdays. Dishes like stew of gooze gizzard with ‘sztrapacska’ (potato dumplings) await visitors and it is definitely worth staying longer in one of the charming rooms of the guest house. The Villány winery has released its ‘Újbor’ (‘New vintage wine’) dedicated to St Martin’s Day made of the indigenous Portugieser grape.

Vylyan – not Beaujolais, Bogyólé!
Vylyan Vineyard and Winery has announced the result of the 18th edition of their label design competition for young artists. Every year ‘Bogyolé’ wine challanges the artists of the future to design a label that suits the lighthearted wine. This year 194 entries arrived and the winner is Dóra Murin. As for the wine, it is a fresh red wine deliberately with a name resembling the French Beaujolais. The fermentation of the whole, healthy bunches take place within the berries, just like with Beaujolais. Vylyan estate celebrates the new Bogyólé and St Martin on the 11th November. The whole evening program includes live musice, cellar tour, a 3 course dinner and matching wines.
