When a compass is really needed
200 wineries is a jungle, thus you really need a compass to know where to start, what not to miss. Borjour Magnum is a friendly, familiar wine event, so let us recommend 3 family wineries, which are ideal to start with.
– Babarczi Vineyard and Winery
This family winery has vineyards in the cool(er) climate Pannonhalma wine region, which is ideal for Chardonnay, as it is proved by Babarczi Chardonnay every year. Their Sauvignon Blanc and Irsai Olivér wines are among the best examples of the varieties as well. Full flavoured, juicy, crispy, lovely wines. Plus a few years ago the winery started the make red wines as well, with great success! Just to mention one: Babarczi Marianum Cabernet Franc 2019 won gold medal at the latest edition of Berliner Wine Trophy.

– Dúzsi Family Winery
Tamás Dúzsi works together with his wife and numerous children. They create together, but the founder gives the direction – and he is convinced that rosé wines are much more than simple things to create. No wonder, he is dubbed “the rosé king”, and indeed the Dúzsi family has a wide range of varietal and blend rosé wines. A more or less novelty of the estate is the barrel aged Cabernet Franc Rosé. The single vineyard red wines are also unmissable!

– Frittmann Winery
Frittmann estate was founded by two brothers and they own the inevitable merit of placing Kunság wine region on the map of quality wines. Now the children of both brothers are involved in the work of the winery. They are especially good at aromatic wines like Irsai Olivér, Cserszegi Fűszeres or Generosa – the latest being a variety used mostly by them only. And they are also passionate about the indigenous Ezerjó variety, which they also age in barrel, and they make a méthode traditionelle sparkling wine of Ezerjó as well!
